Backgrounder
The
Pacific Seafood Group is a family-owned group of seafood companies
based in
Portland
,
Ore. The company processes
West Coast product from Alaska
to
Mexico
and owns and operates key distribution centers in
Washington,
Oregon, California,
Texas,
Nevada
and Utah
. The Pacific Seafood Group has worldwide strategic partnerships that
provide for efficiently importing and exporting of product.
Frank M. Dulcich and his son, Dominic, started the
Pacific Seafood Group in 1941 as a small, fresh seafood retail counter
operation. Throughout the years, Pacific Seafood expanded operations
to meet customer needs and to keep pace with a growing market. Today,
under the leadership of Frank Dulcich’s namesake and grandson,
Pacific Seafood performs all operations from dock to dinner table.
In 1983, Pacific Seafood purchased its first fish
processing plant in Warrenton, Ore.
That plant, located on the
mouth of the
Columbia River
, is one of the most active fishing ports on the west coast,
processing Dungeness crab, cold water shrimp, ground fish and salmon.
Over the past two decades, the Pacific Seafood Group has swiftly expanded, opening new
markets and processing facilities. Since 1983 Pacific Seafood has
grown from one processing plant and one distribution facility to more
than 30 operating companies. As the Pacific Seafood Group continues to
grow, it does so with the commitment to servicing customers
efficiently with consistent and direct access to a supply of high
quality products.
Focused on improving the environment and protecting
local jobs, Pacific Seafood has implemented several goals for its
processing plants, including improving water quality, preserving both
annual and seasonal jobs, and working with city, state, county and
federal government officials to ensure these goals are met. Pacific
Seafood employs more than 1,800 people in the
U.S.
and focuses on continued growth while increasing the opportunities
with its fishing vessels, customers, team members and strategic
partners.
In 2003, Pacific Seafood built a state-of-the-art processing and
distribution plant in
Clackamas
,
Ore.
This facility serves as the company headquarters and ensures timely
delivery of high quality seafood to local customers and beyond.
